I do believe there is a higher power out there. Literally speaking i think of death as entering a black void where you cant think or even know that you are dead, because you dont have a brain to think it. However at other times like when i attend services I feel certain that everything dosnt just stop when you die. I feel that humans really have a life force inside of them that passes on after death and that reincarnation does exist. Honestly my viewpoint is a little unclear even to myself at the moment. I think I'm just too young to really understand the concept of thinking about death and an afterlife.

I believe that if there is a god or higher power, it has no interest in meddling with human affairs. I believe that existence consists of two things; seen and unseen. When we die, we enter into the unseen. I believe life after death is a manifestation of unexistence, a black void that is equal in magnitude to what does exist. In this sense, when we combine the magnitude of what we can see and what we cannot, we end with a total of 0, or perfection.
I believe life is like a wave and we pass through our existence then the sort of unexistence I described earlier intermittently. So in a sense, I believe in reincarnation. The late comedian/philosopher Bill Hicks said it quite well.
btw this kind of thing might go better in the debate forum, just because of the subject matter. |

I believe we rot in the ground when we die (no afterlife, etc). I do believe in a "higher-power", but we are like bacteria in an extremely large petri dish and [our] existence is just the luck of the draw.

I'd love to think we get reincarnated as something else, but not necessarily with any memory of our past life. I'm not a religious person necessarily, but I like the idea of souls being recycled; it's sad to think that the bit that makes you you just disappears without a trace when you die.

after being around here for a bit, it's hard to ignore the diversity within the community. some of us seem to come from other countries, backgrounds, etc, so i got to thinking the other day...
if it's not too touchy, what are your beliefs on what happens after we die? whether it be based on religion or not? i, personally, lean more towards being agnostic. picturing no higher power it's kind of scary, in my opinion. when i think about it, i think of some dark, black void--that lasts forever. a place where i would not be able to measure space or time, or even have the consciousness to know either had ever existed. thinking about it makes me understand why more people than not would want to believe there is a higher power out there. so, what are your beliefs? sorry if this isn't appropriate. haha |
